Many people these days try to say one car is the best car in America. But how can they? For me a BMW X-5 is not as good as a Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. It’s what you want and what you need.

So what I did was make up some categories. I will show the best cars in these categories.

Best Car for a College Student

Many of us here will be going to college in a year or two. I’m not saying we are all going to get a new car for college but I wanted to show you some anyway.

Chevy Aveo $9,995           37mpg hwy

I can tell you right now, I would not be caught dead driving this car. But the reason I put it in here is because it’s the lowest priced car in America at only $9,995. This car also gets 37mpg highway. This car also tested very well in crash testing. The Aveo received 5 stars in crash test ratings (the governments highest). It has driver and passenger side airbags and two stage frontal airbags. It turns the passenger airbag on or off based on the pressure and weight on the seat. The Aveo also has more passenger room than other comparable vehicles such as the Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit. But this car is definitely ugly and in no way cute. But it has the advantages college students would want, and that’s why it’s in this category.

Saturn Ion $12,890           35mpg hwy
Now I have never been a fan of the Ion just because of how ugly they used to be. But this car looks a lot better and is a car which you won’t be as embarrassed to drive. The Ion gets great gas mileage and is priced well. This car also has 145hp which is not great but it’s not bad when you’re getting 35mpg, and Parents can relax a little when their kid gets into one of these. This car also got the highest frontal crash test rating of 5 stars. So I really think this car is great for a young driver who wants to get a low priced car that gets good gas mileage.

Chevy Colorado $14,700           26mpg hwy
Well what about the college student that likes to haul stuff or tow stuff? I think the Chevy Colorado is the right choice. It’s not a full size truck that will tow 10,000 pounds, but it gives a student like myself options. For a truck it gets pretty good gas mileage, and is priced well. The truck comes with many options and features. This truck has a tough engine just like any Chevy truck. You won’t need to buy spark plugs until after 100,000 miles and the drive belt can be used up to 150,000 miles before needing replacement. So this is a good low priced truck that will last long and perform well.

Scion tC $17,620           31mpg
The Scion tC in my opinion is the best looking car on the list so far. It’s got a great design that looks cool. This car is also well priced for such a sharp looking car, and at 31mpg you won’t need to fill up quite so often. This car also has a little bit of a zip as well. It offers a good 162hp, which isn’t fast but for 31mpg 162hp aint too shabby. This car is on my list because it looks great and is well priced.

Pontiac G8 $25,000 (estimated price)

Now here is in my mind the best car on the list. To me it looks better than the Scion tC but that’s just opinion and preference. But what I love about this car is the performance. The 361hp engine in this car surprised me, because Pontiac has been disappointing me lately especially with the GTO. But this to me is just an impressive car and I think will sell quite well when it releases in early 2008.

So that does it for my best cars for college students. I think all these cars are great cars, and I would like to note that there are other cars out there that would make good cars for college students, so keep looking around to find the one that’s right for what you want and need.
