Hello students, parents/supervisors, and teachers!

After much preparation and work, we the Navigator staff are proud to present to you the first issue of 07/08: welcome to the Navigator!

For those of you new to the school, along with those returning, here is a brief summary on the organization of our staff:

As announced last year, the Editor position has been split into three new positions: The Editor resides on the student council and oversees overall production. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for the calendar, keeping track of the editor, writers, and organizing meetings among many other things. The Producer formulates the template, takes care of the organization of the production team, the graphics designing, html coding, and other technical aspects, and, with the help of his assistant, heads the Production Team.

I, Heather-Ann Wicker, am the Editor for this year of the Navigator, and Beth Friesen is my Administrative Assistant. Manny Pavlopoulos is this year’s Producer, and assisting him is Karissa Welch. Together we form the Navigator Team. You can find out more about us on the Navigator Team (newspaper) account resume, or by sending an email. To find out more about a writer or other staff member, please check out the staff introductions in the Navigator Staff Article; not all have fit into the first issue—more will come in Issue 2. Email and resumes are also good resources.

As you can see, the Production Team has done a fabulous job of creating an entirely new Navigator template from scratch, along with many new graphics. We have been blessed with a handful of talented graphics designers and HTML coders who have participated in giving this year’s Navigator a new look and feel. We hope that you enjoy the Navigator’s new appearance and we look forward to hearing your comments! Once again, we apologize for the file size of this issue and we will be working to find a solution for dial-up users who can only spend a limited amount of time on the Internet. – Manny Pavlopoulos

Writers worked hard to fill those template spots with interesting, thought-provoking, informative, and just plain old fun articles. Among some of our new articles this year are Cara Anderson’s Informal Essay, Micah Engel’s Humor Column, and Jarrett Carter’s Technical Column. Take your time to browse and enjoy reading!  Please note that more new articles and expanded features will be introduced in the next issue, so be sure to watch out for it. Our next planned release date is November 5.
Due to the high success of our Navigator Open House, positions with the Navigator have filled up rather quickly, and we have been blessed with a large number of writers.  If you have your heart set on becoming a writer, please email the Editor's Office, Heather-Ann Wicker and/or Beth Friesen. We might be able to set you up in one of the positions still left, or put you down as a back-up writer for the future. A major way you can help out is by cooperating in any contests, interviews, or other participatory events we will hold. Please feel free to email any one of the Navigator Team, or the Editor's Office for questions and comments you have regarding the Navigator, or any specific article.

Until next issue,

Heather Ann Wicker
Senior Editor
