Jeremiah 9: 23-24

“This is what the LORD says: ‘Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,’ declares the LORD.”

Hello readers!

Welcome to the second webversion issue of the Navigator! After a month’s break, we’re here to present you with a more cohesive and inclusive sample of what we will present this year. The Production Team has once again pulled an amazing performance!  We hope this is the first of many Navigator issues on the web and that this new feature will increase reader viewing, especially for those of you with dial-up or other limited internet connections.

In this issue. . .

Some articles returning from last issue include Paige Walker’s Snapshots interviewing “take-the-initiative” photographer Brooke Snowden , Micah Engel’s much-responded-to Humor Column, and DJ Caudill’s insights on the sought after feature of fuel economy! We also have several new writers and columns this issue. Nathan Tilton and Laurel Bates present the Travel Column, interviewing international students about their living situations. They have done an incredible job for their first article! Alex Montgomery has started “Glimpses of Grace,” a column that will relate occurrences explainable only by God’s Mighty Power and Grace. Learn this issue about how God had compassion on the Montgomery family. Aaron Brown enthusiastically presents the Sports Column for you avid sport fans. Find out what’s coming up in the next few months in the sports world! Last but not least I am happy to present to you the new advertising feature. Please read these ads for important information regarding articles in this issue and in the future, as well as events throughout the school. If you would like to have an ad published in the Navigator please send it to the “Editor’s Office.”

In the next issue. . . Coming on November 23rd:

We will have messages from our newly elected President, Vice-President, and possibly other student council members as well. Mary Bellamy and Amy Rosenberger are starting a cooking column, but they need help. Watch out in this issue for advertisements!

Technical Letter from the Producer

First off, the ideal browser to view the Navigator with is Internet Explorer. Although FireFox and other browsers are all great performing browsers in their own respects, the Navigator can not be fully enjoyed without the use of Internet Explorer. Please open this Issue with Internet Explorer by right clicking on the "Issue 2 NorthStar Navigator.html" and opening it with IE. (Note: This will only work if you have Internet Explorer already installed.)

In this Navigator Issue you'll find a few new features which were created to assist you, the viewer, to comfortably view the Navigator contents without any hassle. The one thing you will notice immediately when viewing this issue of the Navigator are metallic navigation bars in the upper areas of the pages. From those bars you can go to any article you want at any time without having to click "Back...back...back..." to return to the Issue's Main Page. We hope that this new feature will be put to good use and make your viewing experience more enjoyable!

We have also included some "Slide Down Menus" containing advertisements for future issues such as the Gallery and the Dining Column inside two of the Articles. These menus are designed to only be visible when the viewer wishes for them to be visible. Please allow "script and ActiveX controls" if you receive a security alert while viewing the pages. This page may ask you to install Shockwave Player 10.2. It is not necessary in order to view the animations properly if you already have a shockwave version installed. The Navigator is safe and contains no malicious content. Javascript has been used to add certain effects to this new Navigator issue and that is what may cause the security alerts, depending on your Internet Security settings.  Be sure to "stay connected" for more exciting features in the next Navigator Issues!

The NorthStar Navigator online Webpage has also been launched! We are currently working on a low-size Interactive Main Page, this will be launched within the next 1 to 2 upcoming days. Please remember to allow Script and ActiveX controls while viewing the Online Page so the included JavaScript features will appear properly. From the MainPage you can reach every Navigator Issue of the year 2007-2008 which has been published so ar. The Navigator Online has primarily been included for those individuals who wish to read only one or two specific articles due to either preference or Internet usage limitations.  We appreciate all comments and constructive criticism; please forward your ideas/suggestions/comments/questions to navteam@northstar-academy.org

Enjoy!
