Welcome back to another issue of the Northern Lights! As Christmas approaches we would love to wish you a Merry Christmas! Realizing that previously I was not real clear on who the Reporter Team consists of, we are Josh, Susie Stewart, and Sarah Warwick (but we’ll be introducing two new members in this issue).

First of all, I want to remind our Elementary and Junior High readers that you still might want to check out the Senior High section in each issue. Sometimes there are things you might want to read. This issue, there is an urgent prayer request, so see the Senior High section for more details.
Wait a second, is Mama Rosa closed or is my computer messed up? It appears to be the former. Our principal recently announced that we are all locked out until a new “Mama” is found. So it was not your computer; it was not your account; it was Mama. Here is what Mr. Bowers said in a note that was quickly drowned out in the Senior and Junior High Cafés: “I have temporarily (I hope) closed the "Mama Rosa" conference until I can find a new "Mama".”
If you are keeping track of the Photography Contest, then you should know that the submissions are in and the judges have started getting to work. Judging is excruciating since there are so many great pictures! Thanks to everyone who submitted! If photography is not your avenue, you still might want to check out the results when they are released. Who knows? You might find a picture you want to use as your background.
“We wish you a Merry Christmas! We wish you a Merry Chr-i-stmas! We WISH you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!” Is it just me or is the Christmas Party folder moving? Not exactly, but it is that time of year. If you are lonely around Christmas (I certainly hope you’re not!) then you might want to check out that folder. You could deck the “halls” of NSA. We pray that in this season you will all be blessed with joy from the Lord, whether it comes from within NSA or without.

Petition! Is anyone getting tired of seeing these words pasted across the Student Café? If you have not had time to peek into the thread, it basically sprouted from Erin Arnaud declaring herself the “Queen of the SC.” Usually something like this happens at least once a month, but it appears that Erin has gained quite a fan following. On a more serious note, a thread labeled “Urgent Prayer for a Shooting” has popped up in the Student Café as well. It seems that there was a shooting at a YWAM base and some people were killed and others injured. Please pray for the people who were affected by this incident that God would give them peace and reassurance.
Somebody start a drum roll because here comes…Chapter 24 of Courage with Serenity. Kylie’s usual fan crowd has already consumed the chapter and is on the edge of their seats anticipating the next one. Plus, Kylie has released a compiled version of chapters 1-24 for anyone who has not yet had the chance to read it. So if you love a good book you should download this. If you do not like reading on the computer, you will now. Still not convinced? I suppose you could print it, although you may be using (not wasting) a lot of paper. Alex Montgomery’s Echoes of Time chapter 4 is released, for those following that series. Mark Rowe has released everything from chapters 1-9 of Swords of Pain. Also, Elyenesyar chapter 2by A.M. is out. In addition, there are many other great works in the Creative Writing folder.
In the Debate folder there has been a long discussion about immigrants (in America). The chain is labeled “Spanish” and it started around the topic of whether or not we should be forced to learn Spanish. There has been far too much to capture the gist of it here, so if you are interested in what has been said you might want to check it out. There have been some interesting and thorough statements made on both sides.

I noticed that the Junior Highers held a Sadie Hawkins’s Dance recently. Apparently it was a pretty large event that lasted for several days. Unfortunately, we still do not have any Junior High reporters and only one Elementary reporter. If anyone would like to volunteer for either of these positions, we would be very grateful. Just write Josh Stewart. One last note about the Elementary: it is rumored that there may be an Elementary RP coming out and possibly a whole Elementary RP section. So stay tuned, and we will see what the RP Council decides.

Finally, I get to our new members! The Reporter Team is glad to welcome Andrew Maust and Jasmine Burwell to the staff. That makes the Reporter Team a total of five: Josh, Susie Stewart, Sarah Warwick, Jasmine Burwell and Andrew Maust. Now, Andrew and Jasmine are still getting the hang of things, so it may be a while before they start contributing, but the next issue should contain some of their work. Also, I want to applaud Susie Stewart and Sarah Warwick for doing an excellent job of hanging on in the starting stages of this business. “Reporter” is a new position this year, and we are still working some of the bugs out, but Susie and Sarah have hung on through the whole thing!
