Top Ten Coolest Cars

Sports Cars

1. Chevrolet Corvette
The Corvette has been one of the coolest cars around for over 50 years. It was first introduced in 1953 and is still going strong. In these 54 years the Corvette has received award after award. It was Motor Trend’s coolest car as well as number 1 in Automobile Magazine’s 100 coolest cars. It was also one of Car and Driver’s 10 best cars of 2008. But that’s not the only reason its number 1 on this list. This car was also made for performance. Its 7.0L 505hp engine screams to 60mph in just 3.8 seconds. And if you want more power, you can get yourself a Vortech Z06, which will give you 635hp.

2. Chevrolet Camaro
The Camaro is back. After being discontinued it was redesigned to look more like a 68 Camaro. It was originally put into production to compete with the Ford Mustang, but soon it became a car that Ford had to compete with. The new Camaro was featured in the movie Transformers, and will be a new GM vehicle for 2009.

3. Pontiac GTO

The Pontiac GTO was put into production in 1964; it was one of the coolest muscle cars around but has been cut from the Pontiac lineup many times. The newest GTO was a failure and discontinued again, but I hope to see GM try again at this American Classic.

4. Porsche 911 Turbo

When I think Porsche, the first car that comes to my mind everytime is the 911 turbo; it’s a Porsche classic. It cruises along with its 480hp 6 liter engine. It will throw you back in your seat while accelerating from 0-60 in just 3.4 seconds. Porsche has kept its classic design, which helps it make number 4 on this list.

5. Ford Mustang

First introduced in 1964, the Ford Mustang has been going strong ever since. It was almost discontinued only once, but the faithful Mustang fans fought to keep it alive.

6. Dodge Challenger & 7. Cadillac STS-V

The Dodge Challenger first came around in 1970 to join the pony car class with Ford’s Mustang and Chevy’s Camaro. This new Challenger above should hit production soon.

The Cadillac STS-V is the most powerful Cadillac ever. It features a Super Charged 4.4L Northstar V-8 engine, with electronic Sequential Fuel Injection. It pumps out 469 hp and 439 lb-ft of tourque. This is by far one of the coolest Cadillacs ever made. The classic design makes this Cadillac look unlike any other luxuary car. This Cadillac is a lot like an American Muscle car, which is why it makes my list.

9. BMW M6 & 8. Saturn SKY Red Line
The BMW M6 dishes out 500 hp with a top speed of 155 mph, while reaching 60 mph in 4.5 seconds from a dead stop. The M6 has a very luxurious interior while offering high performance which makes it one of the coolest cars in production. It’s not quite as fast as the STS-V which is why it’s number 6 on my list.

The Saturn SKY Red Line offers a 2.0L 260hp turbocharged engine that pushes it from 0-60 in only 5.5 seconds, and it still offers 28mpg hwy. The SKY was released just after Pontiacs version which is called the Solstice. It is a 2 seater convertible, and yes, it’s a Saturn.

10. Nissan GT-R

The Nissan GT-R first came around in the 60’s. It hasn’t been around much since 2000, but now is coming back for 2009 (much like the Camaro). The Nissan really flies with its 480hp 3.8L V6. This car really surprised me coming from Nissan; it impressed me so much I couldn’t help but put it on the list.
