1If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Hello Northstar,

Christmas trees down, presents grafted into use, all that sparkly tinsel stuff finally off all the furniture . . .and so, time moves on. Welcome back to normal life and 2008! The Navigator has great plans for this last half of the year including some surprises!

I’d like to be able to say that the Navigator staff worked hard over Christmas break to bring you this issue, because then you’d be very impressed with those dedicated writers, but that wouldn’t be true, so I won’t. The articles in Issue 5 are mostly those we did not publish in Issue 3. We have everything from the Student Council to the Humor Column to the Creative Corner to Tech Talk to offer you this issue. The Open Mic managed to scrape an article, but please don’t forget about it! We need your contributions to keep it going!

Last but not least we have a new article starting this issue: From the Teacher’s Desk. Several of our wonderful NSA teachers have agreed to keep their eyes open for exceptional pieces of writing from their exceptional students. I thoroughly enjoyed reading these contributions; From the Teacher’s Desk won the Editor’s Choice award for Issue 5!

As always, we as the Navigator staff would love to hear from our readers! Just drop an email to one of the staff members if you enjoyed their article, or to the Navigator account if you have something you’d like to pass along to the entire group. Please do send a note; it keeps us going!

Until Issue 6,

Heather Ann Wicker
Senior Editor

A Technical Letter from the Producer

Firstly, to any new readers, Welcome to the NS Navigator Issue 5! Please open the Navigator with Internet Explorer or the latest version of Safari if you have not done so already. IE and Safari are the ideal browsers to view the Navigator with. Mozilla FireFox tends to extend tables and limit the viewing experience. Also, please do not be alarmed by any security alerts while viewing the Navigator. The Navigator does not possess any content meant to harm your computer. Please allow ActiveX and Javascript to run while viewing the Navigator so that all effects can be displayed properly.

As said in our last issue, The Navigator Online Version Webpage will be launched most likely at the end of this month. "Sneak Peeks" will be provided in the Student Cafe of later issues and their appearances as well as sneak peeks of the Navigator Online Version Webpage. Keep an eye out for those in the Student Cafe!

The Production Team has included a few new features in this issue. One of which are new in-article navigation buttons. We hope that these new buttons will help you, the reader, navigate through the articles. More features are being looked into and will be included in later issues! :-) Special thanks to Ryan Gauthier for undertaking the task of compiling all of the coded HTML Navigator articles and placing them into their proper positions for Navigator Issue 5!

If you have any suggestions or comments regarding the Navigator HTML or Graphics Design content, contact the Navigator Team account at navteam@northstar-academy.org or e-mail your comments/suggestions to mannyp@northstar-academy.org.

Enjoy!
