The Mystery Solver
“Excuse me, I have to defuse this bomb.”
This past summer Nancy Drew’s mysteries brought her to the big screen. As the movie starts, Nancy Drew, the girl version of the Hardy Boys, is finishing up a case when she slips on the roof of the church and almost falls to the ground. However, obviously there would be no movie if she died, and indeed, she saves herself by grabbing the gutter. Her dad, coming from work, arrives just in time to see her slip, which makes him very upset. He is somewhat over protective, and when they drive home from the church, he makes her promise not to solve a mystery when they temporally move to Southern California. Reluctantly, she agrees out of a desire to honor her father, but just one problem enters the scene. Her dad let her pick the house they plan to stay in and, of course, she knowingly chooses a house with an unsolved case. Why? She wants to solve the case that the police gave up on.
What’s the mystery? The house Nancy picked used to belong to a famous movie star. The movie star was found dead at her party in her pool before she even had time to greet her guests. Cool, huh? Well, Nancy Drew thought so. Though she tries hard to obey her dad, the movie stars Nancy Drew. Nancy receives help from her best friend Ned Nickerson and new friend Corky and, together, they...did you really think I would tell you how it ended? I may be homeschooled, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to annoy people!
The Nancy Drew movie has lots of suspense, action, a secret passage way under the huge mansion and...sorry, got a little bit excited there. I won’t ruin all the fun of the movie! Anyhow, I’d definitely recommend it for anyone who likes mystery movies. It is lots of fun to watch so get off your chair and go see it!
“I found a tunnel, and I'm going in. If I don't come back in 10 minutes, that means something bad has happened.”
[Corky laughs]
“I don't think that was a joke.”
