AP® Literature and Composition EVP (ENGL500e)
Enriched Virtual
1.0 (yearlong course)
American Literature (ENGL300); A grade of an 85% or higher in the subject area course taken the previous year
New for 2020-2021!
AP® Literature is designed to strengthen the student’s ability to read and interpret the various genres and motifs in literature. This class will help prepare the student to take the AP® exam in Literature at the end of the school year, but the class will not “teach to the test.” Students will write multiple essays utilizing excellent analysis, structure, and phrasing. Literature readings will be mainly from British Literature, with selections from World Literature added. This class covers many of the literary pieces that the British Literature class covers, but it does so at a higher level, as it covers the worldviews of each major literary movement.
If you are planning to take the AP® exam associated with this course, then be aware that beginning in Fall 2019 the College Board requires that all students register in October of each school year to take the exam which is held in early May. You must make your decision early. There are penalties associated with late registration and with registering and then deciding not to take the exam at a later date. Please plan accordingly. For more information or if you have more questions, please visit https://apcentral.collegeboard.org . Once on the site, search Home-Schooled Students to find information on locating testing locations near you. Choosing an AP® course start date in July will make the student ineligible for CCU dual credit.
*As part of the EVP program, this course will have a live class requirement once a week at a set time; please see the website for time choices. This live class will include teaching, discussion with classmates from around the world, demonstrations, questions and answers, and other aspects of a live classroom. Students will have weekly due dates and stay on a traditional coursework schedule.
