Students will learn and practice experimental procedures using household chemicals and supplies. Students will complete several research projects on the periodic table and digital and analog signals, and will apply scientific ideas learned as they design and build two projects related to motion and energy. As honors students they will be expected to design, conduct, and evaluate their own experiment. This course has a lab component.

FROM THE TEACHER

Do you enjoy doing experiments? Then Physical Science is the course for you. This class has many hands on activities and experiments using household materials to help you understand the amazing processes that God has put in place to make creation function as it does.

Examine a few elements, identify some forces, create some waves, and we’ll discover some reactions!

Our live sessions will include a wide variety of activities. You may even find yourself in an escape room!

This honors class goes a step further than the basic Physical Science class with several research projects that allow students to dig deeper into topics that interest them. You will even invent a new superhero!

If there are books and materials for this course, they can be purchased from our Online Bookstore.

Student Feedback

This was one of the best classes I have taken on NSA. There are so many fun projects, and I loved the chance to share them with my teacher and classmates every week! The class covers a wide variety of topics–from basic chemistry to astronomy–each of them made enjoyable with interactive games and lessons (a great teacher helps too!). Physical Science Honors EVP was a fun and challenging alternative to traditional homeschool science classes.

Cody

This is a useful and practical course. I enjoy studying it.

Maverick

The strengths of this course was that it helped the student to increase their ability as an independent learner in a learning environment. There were very helpful videos and weekly discussion posts that helped the students enhance further knowledge while they are studying alone.
