Kammy Downs

Teacher

Hi, I’m Kammy Downs and I am a visual artist living in Kansas City, Mo with my husband. I enjoy nature, being involved in local art communities, and serving on the worship team at my church.

My art practice includes drawing, natural fiber & dyes, and painting murals. My artwork may be seen at www.kammydowns.com or KammyDowns Instagram.

Experience

Art teacher with pre-school thru high school age students for 28+ years at a variety of education establishments including private Christian schools, home-school, Montessori, public and charter schools.

3 years experience as instructor of Advanced Placement Studio Art in Drawing. 1.5 years experience graduate teaching assistant at Ft. Hays State University

In addition, I wrote a UC approved Design course for The Grove School of Redlands, CA. I have also written public art grants, two of which included work with internationally known artists, Stan Herd and Shin-hee Chin.

Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Emporia State University

Certificate of Digital Arts and Design from University of California Riverside Extension

Master of Fine Arts in Drawing from Ft. Hays State University
