Social Studies 6 (SS6)
2 (yearlong course)
Social Studies 5 (SS5)
Students will expand their understanding of God's world by exploring the history, geography, and culture of major countries in the Western Hemisphere. Reading and comprehension, creativity, writing and critical thinking skills are integrated into this social sciences course.
Become a missionary without leaving home! In Social Studies 6, students will gain a mind for missions as they explore the five themes of geography in the western hemisphere. Before setting off to explore each country, students will learn how God is actively working in the country and how they can be praying for God’s continued work in the hearts of the people there. Through the completion of projects, interactive lessons, videos, and country profiles, students will compare and contrast cultures, biomes, history, government structures, landforms, natural resources, cuisine, flags, religious beliefs, and more! Join us on this adventure and learn interesting facts like why the United States is considered a melting pot while Canada is considered a mosaic!
