This course is designed to facilitate student growth in the areas of reading, reading strategies, fluency, writing, spelling, vocabulary and grammatical skills. Through the utilization of an integrated approach, this course will expose students to a variety of literary genres including fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.

Skills such as language, word identification, writing, vocabulary, and comprehension will be taught through these various types of literature. The course also focuses on applying writing, spelling, and grammatical skills in developing the writing process to help each student grow in his writing skills from his current level.

Students will be introduced to beginning research and MLA format with step by step instruction and support.


Are you curious about topics important to you? Do you have an interest in learning new things and sharing that information with others? This course will teach you how to navigate beginning research topics, communicate with your peers via video and writing and read with a question in mind to improve your understanding of text. This course is designed to be a journey of learning through reading and writing by exploring topics of your choice. You are the expert and will become more skilled as you build your skills.
