Our Curriculum

As an institution with 25 years of experience, NorthStar has become a global leader in online education. Our in-house team of experts have fully developed 80% of NorthStar’s courses. In addition, NorthStar has offerings that are approved by a partner university in which students receive dual credit for both high school and university coursework.

Homeschool students are intentionally given opportunities to think critically about contradictory worldviews and compare and contrast them with that of the Bible. We strive to construct curriculum and learning experiences that meet the mission of our parent organization: Reaching the world for Christ through international Christian education.

BIBLE

Students will gain an understanding of introductory Christian doctrine, including salvation, the study of the Bible, and the power of prayer. Students will learn how to live out their love for God and share Him with others.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Students learn from multiple texts and communicate their learning through well-crafted sentences, paragraphs, and essays. Developing vocabulary and language skills will assist students’ growth as readers and writers.

MATH

Our math courses help students explore practical mathematic concepts through daily lessons that include videos, practice, application, and review. Students are regularly required to reflect on the concepts they are learning.

SCIENCE

Students will use labs, quests, and creative projects to learn about a broad range of scientific disciplines, including earth science, physical science, biology, and astronomy.

SOCIAL STUDIES

In social studies courses, students will use reading and comprehension, creativity, and critical thinking skills to understand global perspectives in both ancient and modern world history.

ELECTIVES

In order to graduate from NorthStar Academy, a student must have earned the required number of elective credits. Electives may reflect a student’s interests or skills, or be directly related to a career direction.
