Marine Biology Honors

Description:

The oceans are vast and filled with beauty, mystery, and millions of strange and amazingly adapted creatures. In this course, students will explore the living wonders of our oceans. Through videos, projects, virtual “field trips” and a student created marine biology notebook, students will gain a deeper understanding of the complexity of creation. This is a single semester honors course with a lab component that will be met through several lab simulations, virtual dissections, and student-led research.

FROM THE TEACHER

Have you ever wondered why a clownfish lives in a poisonous sea anemone, or why an octopus has eight legs or are you just looking for a single semester science course to earn that final lab credit? Well then, I have the class for you!

Marine Biology Honors is going to be a fun and fascinating journey through the seven seas. Life on Earth started in the ocean, when on Day 5 of creation, God said, “Let the water teem with an abundance of living creatures”. By studying marine biology, we are diving into some of God’s very first creations.

Please join me on this adventure and I hope to “sea” you in class!

If there are books and materials for this course, they can be purchased from our Online Bookstore.

Student Feedback

I loved this course! The student notebook was so fun and helpful! 😀

This course was pretty fun to do and it was very easy to navigate.

The labs and activities were very useful and worthwhile. They often focused on things that we didn’t fully know, and they taught us the topics while we did the project.
