For Homeschool support: NorthStar Academy understands the demands of homeschooling and realize that parents will need assistance from time to time. NorthStar Academy welcomes those families who may only need one or two individual courses to complement their homeschooling program.
Every Christian should desire to become like Christ. Students will gain an understanding of introductory Christian doctrine, including salvation, the study of the Bible, and the power of prayer. Students will learn how to live out their love for God and share Him with others.
This course is designed to develop students as readers and writers. Students learn from multiple texts and communicate their learning through well-crafted sentences, paragraphs, and essays. Developing vocabulary and language skills will assist students’ growth as readers and writers.
Our math courses help students explore practical mathematic concepts through daily lessons that include teacher notes and videos, practice, application, and review. Students are regularly required to reflect on the concepts they are learning, explain their work, and communicate their understanding of key concepts.
Students will use labs, quests, and creative projects to learn about a broad range of scientific disciplines, including earth science, physical science, biology, and astronomy. These courses focus on critical thinking with guidance while applying concepts that students have learned to real-world situations.
In social studies courses, students will use reading and comprehension, creativity, and critical thinking skills to understand global perspectives in both ancient and modern world history. Courses in psychology, sociology, personal finance, and economics are also offered.
Electives generally fall outside of the core academic subject areas. In order to graduate from NorthStar Academy, a student must have earned the required number of elective credits. Electives may reflect a student’s interests, introduce or improve skills, or be directly related to a career direction.
We offer over 200 courses for students in the 4th through 12th grades, including honors and Advanced Placement curricula.
Students are able to pursue their goals while receiving a college-preparatory education at their own pace and calendar.
