I would describe NorthStar as…Nurturing- It’s about the kids actually learning and being passionate about education and not just moving on when you get a bad grade. The teachers are very nurturing and help the students to grow.
Elementary School (Grades 4-6)
As an online elementary program, we believe in partnering with supervisors to intentionally prepare students for our rapidly changing world (spiritually, academically, socially, and personally).
NSA’s Elementary courses provide students with certified, engaging teachers who will lead them in the new world of online education. Strong academics, acquired computer skills, Biblical integration, and international classmates give a well-rounded education to young students. Students will come away with new friends from around the world.
Fully Accredited
NorthStar Academy (NSA) is an online, fully accredited Christian school that currently offers over 200 courses to students in grades 4 through 12, providing a complete academic and diploma-granting program.
NSA is accredited by both Cognia and ACSI. NorthStar Academy was founded to provide an online education facilitated by godly teachers dedicated to providing excellent education through a sound curriculum in partnership with students, families, and schools worldwide. Academic and spiritual readiness is achieved through faith-based, student-centered courses led by credentialed teachers who challenge students through engaging, standards-based content.
BIBLE
Students will find the answers to life’s essential questions, “Who am I” and “What is the purpose of life” in addition to acquiring tools to help them live according to their identity in Christ.
LANGUAGE ARTS
Skills such as language development, word identification, the writing process, vocabulary strategy development, and comprehension will be taught through fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.
MATH
Students will build on key math skills involving number sense, computation, measurement, geometry concepts, and data and probability with the move to foundational tools that support algebraic thinking and problem-solving.
SCIENCE
Students will use labs, quests, and creative projects to learn about a broad range of scientific disciplines, including earth science, physical science, and life science.
SOCIAL STUDIES
In social studies courses, students will use reading and comprehension, creativity, and critical thinking skills to understand global perspectives in both ancient and early modern western history.
ELECTIVES
Electives may reflect a student’s interests, introduce or improve skills, or be directly related to a career direction. NorthStar offers elementary-level electives in Spanish, bible studies, and fine arts.
