Joyce Deer

Teacher

I have been with NorthStar Academy since 2018, teaching in the math department, and I am a veteran of online teaching for the past 20 years.

Having worked in a Christian online school setting for the last ten years, I understand the needs of the online student. I love working with students and am eager to help prepare them for their success after high school.

Experience

Over 30 years teaching mathematics in Mississippi at all levels, from 6th grade to AP Calculus, and College Algebra

Twenty years of concurrently teaching online for community college, teacher education, and Christian online schools

With NSA since 2018.

Qualification

BS in mathematics with emphasis in Computers and Education, and 27 hours toward MS in Mathematics

MS in Instructional Technology

IC3 Business Ed certification

National Board of Professional Teaching Standards certified in 2002 and recertified in 2012

NSF National Presidential Awardee in Mathematics for Mississippi.

Certification

MSIT, NBCT (AYA Math), IC3, CCNA, AP Calculus, Mississippi Teaching License 7-12 Mathematics.
