Accounting

Description:

In this course, students will learn how to work with financial statements and accounting principles as they learn about the language of business. Using what they learn, students will make financial decisions in hypothetical but realistic scenarios. They will explore different careers related to accounting and consider which ones they are most suited for. Working with journals, ledgers, and income statements, they will learn the basics of accounting for both business and personal finances. The course includes plenty of hands-on practice in which students can demonstrate and apply what they know.

FROM THE TEACHER

Have you ever wondered how a company keeps track of their profits, losses, and payroll? A general accounting class teaches students far more than how to track numbers—it builds practical life skills they’ll use well beyond the classroom.

At Northstar, our students take accounting through a Biblical worldview and not only learn the technical skills of financial recording, reporting, and analysis, but also how to approach these practices with integrity, stewardship, and ethical responsibility. By connecting accounting concepts to Biblical teachings, students gain a deeper understanding of the purpose behind financial practices, preparing them to act with character and discernment in both professional and personal contexts.
