FROM THE TEACHER

In this course, students will dive into learning the beautiful language of American Sign Language as well as explore the eye-opening richness of the Deaf culture. Students will learn the basic vocabulary, grammar, syntax, and conversational skills of American Sign Language. This course allows students to make comparisons between the history and social aspects of their culture and that of the Deaf culture. Fun and interactive games and flash cards are used to provide students with the practice needed to learn and love the language. Since American Sign Language is a visual/conceptional language, it does not have a spoken or formal written component. Students will demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the content through written exams as well as receptive and expressive signing video submissions.

If there are books and materials for this course, they can be purchased from our Online Bookstore.
