Anatomy and Physiology

With the understanding that we have been fearfully and wonderfully made by God, Anatomy and Physiology will study each of the major organ systems in the body with a focus on their primary organs and how they work to enable the body to remain in balance, all through a biblical perspective. Within each unit of study, students will explore how the different organ systems are interrelated and dependent on one another, how the structures within each support their designated functions, and how disease affects each one. Students will have multiple opportunities to build their own models for structures in the body as well as conduct their own research on specific diseases and the treatment available through the most current medical technologies and advancements.

Are you sometimes curious about how your body manages to pull your finger off that hot stove so quickly, adapt to high altitudes, keep your muscles going as you sprint around the track, take in all the sights around you and form actual images in your brain, or recall childhood memories with just a smell?? In this course you will learn all about how God has designed the human body so intricately to be able to do all of these things and so much more. You will take a look at each of the major body systems, including their structures and functions, to see how they work in order to keep you alive as well as the diseases and disorders that can be associated with each system. You will also dive deeper into the spiritual significance of each body system and how the body is symbolic of many spiritual truths, such as how the role of blood in our body parallels the spiritual significance of Christ’s blood. You will learn through the use of different readings, videos, projects, essays, and discussions and I hope that you will walk away with a much deeper understanding of how God created the human body and as a result how great He is. I hope you join us!

Student Feedback

We were told what to do each day of every week, which really helped me keep organised.

I loved the discussions because I got to learn not only my faith but also people's faith and their learning progress on the topic.

Lessons were easy to follow.
