AP® Psychology

Description:

AP® Psychology is an introductory college-level psychology course. Students cultivate their understanding of the systematic and scientific study of human behavior and mental processes through inquiry-based investigations as they explore concepts like the biological bases of behavior, sensation and perception, learning and cognition, motivation, developmental psychology, testing and individual differences, treatment of abnormal behavior, and social psychology. Throughout these units, a Biblical framework is used to understand human behavior and thinking.

Special Notes:

If you are planning to take the AP® exam associated with this course, then be aware that beginning in Fall 2019 the College Board requires that all students register in October of each school year to take the exam which is held in early May. You must make your decision early. There are penalties associated with late registration and with registering and then deciding not to take the exam at a later date. Please plan accordingly. For more information or if you have more questions, please visit  https://apcentral.collegeboard.org . Once on the site, search Home-Schooled Students to find information on locating testing locations near you.

As an online school, NorthStar Academy is not a testing center. We are a certified AP course provider. Students must locate a face to face school in their local area that will allow them to sit the exam with their students.

This version of the course is not Dual Credit eligible. To receive Dual Credit, you must register for the DC version of this course, if available.

Student Feedback

I enjoyed the variety of assignments that were given to me. Although there were some assignments that were long and challenging, it allowed me to remember the concept that was being taught to me better than other easier assignments.

I really enjoyed how there was a balance between creative work and projects such as drawing and also actual analytical papers through research article summaries and writing a mini paper.

I adored this course!! The lessons and Biblical integration was perfect, the work was challenging but in a manner that encouraged me, the course enabled me to learn a huge amount of psychological ideas in a small amount of time and helped me learn a lot about myself.
