Chemistry Honors (CHEM350)
1.0 (yearlong course)
Physical Science (PHSC100) & Algebra 1 (MATH100); a grade of an 85% or higher in the subject area course taken the previous year
This course covers topics such as atomic structure, bonding, nomenclature, kinetic theory, and organic and biochemistry. Lab experiments are hands-on, computer simulated, or demonstrated by video, with assignments and lab write-ups required.
This course is a part of the honors track, and intentional focus will be on the required knowledge and critical thinking and analytical skills to prepare a student to be successful in future upperlevel and Advanced Placement® (AP®) courses.
Have you ever wondered why some batteries can be recharged but others can’t or why rust forms on certain metals when they get wet? We will learn the answers to these questions and more as we dig a little deeper through our Honors Chemistry Course!
We will be uncovering the mysteries of God’s Creation by analyzing and understanding the materials of the universe and the changes they undergo! As we dive a little deeper into an exploration of the world around us at the atomic level, you will be challenged amazed to discover just how creative and amazing God’s Creation is! He cares about His Creation, even down to the tiniest of atomic particles; so imagine how much He cares about each one of you as well!
We’ll be challenged to think more critically as we explore all these things and more through our Honors Chemistry Course!
If there are books and materials for this course, they can be purchased from our Online Bookstore.
