Introduction to Military Careers

Description:

This course allows students to gain a broader understanding of the career diversity that the military offers. Students learn about the five military branches—Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy—and examine which jobs they might like to pursue. From aviation to medicine to law enforcement, the military can be an outstanding place to achieve one’s dreams in a supportive and well-structured environment.

FROM THE TEACHER

Most of us have seen a war movie; maybe it had a hotshot aviator or a renegade private or a daring Special Forces operative. But outside of these sensationalized portrayals, do you really understand how the military works or what it can do for you? The military offers far more career diversity than most people imagine, and Introduction to Military Careers, will provide the information you need to gain a broader understanding of how to find the right fit. You will learn about the five military branches—Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy—and examine which jobs you might like to pursue. From aviation, to medicine, to law enforcement, the military can be an outstanding place to achieve your dreams in a supportive and well-structured environment.

Student Feedback

I enjoyed everything that this class had to offer! It was perfect for getting a view of how the military works. I also learned a lot about the types of vehicles and weapons, which could potentially help me in the future. The class over all was perfectly paced and the assignments were perfect for each section. I wouldn’t change anything about the class personally because it helped me understand and remember many things. It will definitely help me with my mission of becoming a Navy Seal.

This course was one of the best I have taken here at Northstar if I am being honest. The information flowed extremely well and was set up in a way that was easy to understand. I usually work at an accelerated pace and this course was set up in a way that allowed me to work at that pace while still learning and retaining all of the information that was given to me. Not to mention the fact that it was one of the more interesting courses I have taken as well. I had an absolute blast learning about the military and what it’s all about. The format for the class was easy to understand and informative. There was a perfect amount of course load, I didn’t feel too overwhelmed and I felt like I could actually learn rather than just competing for points, but that is just a supplement to how awesome the course is.

I really enjoyed this course. It changed my view of a lot of different jobs and opened a lot more doors or jobs for me to look at. The content is informative and interesting and I like having the option of listening to the podcasts while I read. The assessments were fun and enjoyable and made me learn a lot about myself. Mostly it is the amazing teacher Mrs. Moreno who also makes this a great course. I learned so much and the things that I have learned really changed my point of view about the military.
