Description:
Resume your journey into the world of classical Latin and discover a mystery of epic proportion! The Palladium statue has been stolen! In the Latin 4 course, you will use your knowledge of Latin grammar and vocabulary to investigate whodunit while strengthening your language fluency and comprehension. As you follow Detective Arcanus through the streets of Rome, you will explore the history, culture, and myth of the Romans through the voices of their brilliant authors and poets. You will apply what you have learned to translation, writing, listening, and literary analysis exercises to prepare you for AP® and college level Latin—and to crack the case of the missing Palladium!
Special Notes:
Students who complete Latin IV earn Honors credit.
Honors level language courses are denoted as Honors due to the expected foundation and proficiency that a student brings from a regularly obtained in years of base language courses.
Latin 4 is recognized as an honors course due to the rigor of the curriculum at this level of study. This accelerated course is for students who can demonstrate intermediate or higher proficiency in reading and writing Latin as well as critical thinking. The course focuses on primary sources and Roman literature including both poetry and prose.
Completing Latin 4 will prepare students for AP® level Latin instruction.

Latin IV is the reward for the hard work of Latin I, II, and III. In this course, students explore Latin language and culture through the voices of its most famous authors and poets. The whole adventure is framed as a “whodunit” in which the student is tasked with solving the crime! Hear Romans’ voices in their own words! Travel back in time to the splendor and glory of the Roman Empire at its peak. I think you will enjoy this course as you achieve fluency and language proficiency to unlock the rich heritage of Latin texts from the last two and a half centuries!
