None
In this course, students explore the basic techniques of acrylic painting as they learn about color theory and elements of design through representational and creative artworks. Projects include still life, nature studies, collage, and paintings inspired by the historical styles of the post-impressionist and fauvist movements.
Each student needs weekly access to a scanner and/or a digital camera in order to submit artwork.
Ever wished you could paint like Van Gogh? Now is your chance! This course teaches a variety of painting techniques and is designed to give beginners a place to start exploring painting, while offering more advanced students the chance to challenge themselves artistically. Projects include complementary color paintings, mixed media collage, stamping, and creating artwork in a style of your choice that reflects something about who you are as an individual. You will use art to reflect God’s creation around you, in addition to finding inspiration in historic paintings! After you’ve learned the basics of mixing paint and controlling your brushstrokes, you will be able to explore your own creative ideas and enjoy a world of new artistic possibilities!
If there are books and materials for this course, they can be purchased from our Online Bookstore.
Painting 2 was a great experience because of the freedom it gave students – the class focused on teaching new techniques and skills, while allowing them to be applied in almost any way. Both beginners and experienced painters will benefit from this class!
The course taught me many more new techniques and even to try a few for myself. I enjoyed the class; it was much fun.
Something I enjoyed about the Painting class were the techniques we learned in painting and the Art and Bible stuff. I liked writing about the Art Documentary as well.
