0.5 (semester course)
None
This course is designed to give a broad overview of the legal system in the United States. The primary aim of this course is to provide key concepts and ideas about the legal system to students and to give them a firm foundation and introduction to different types of law systems. Additionally, students should come away from the course knowing their personal rights and responsibilities within the American legal system.
If you like a good John Grisham book, or perhaps C.S.I. or the Law and Order TV series, this course is for you! Perhaps you’ve been told, “You should be a lawyer when you grow up!” or maybe, you’re interested in a career in the legal field and want to explore further about the profession. Intro to Legal Studies will help you decide if law school may be in your future! It’s a great course that highlights the purpose and function of law in our society. Grab your legal pad and gavel, and I’ll see you in class!
If there are books and materials for this course, they can be purchased from our Online Bookstore.
The class followed units rather than weeks, and I found this to be very beneficial for keeping on pace and staying productive.
There’s not much you can do to make this course better, it’s already really good!
This course’s format was simple and easy to navigate around. I really liked the unit labs and the feedback you gave; I had a good time working through this course.
