Music Theory (MTHR100)
Fine Arts
0.5 (semester course)

Music Theory is a progressive study in music elements, structure, and literacy. Students will discover musical notation, symbols, rhythms, pitches, counterpoint, composition, ear training, expressive tools, and musical forms. They will compose and harmonize a traditional melody.
Do you love listening to music? We attend concerts and buy digital downloads. Yet, despite having music all around us, we may not always consider the elements that combine to make music. In Music Theory, we will consider some of the basic elements of music, and you’ll even call yourself a composer when we’re finished.
If there are books and materials for this course, they can be purchased from our Online Bookstore.
I would like to see another semester of Musical Theory. I would take it if it is offered.
I enjoyed the course and was helpful for me!
I learned a lot in this class. Thank you!
