Physical Science Honors (PHSC150)
1.0 (yearlong course)
A grade of an 85% or higher in the subject area course taken the previous year
The course discusses such topics as the atoms and molecules, the periodic table, energy, the physics of motion, Newton's Laws, waves, and electromagnetism. This course has many hands-on experiments; they all use household chemicals and supplies. Students will also be expected to design, conduct, and evaluate their own experiment. At least two major projects will be required each semester.
This course is a part of the honors track, and intentional focus will be on the required knowledge and critical thinking and analytical skills to prepare a student to be successful in future upper level and Advanced Placement® (AP®) courses.
Do you enjoy doing experiments? Then Physical Science is the course for you. This class has many hands on activities and experiments using household materials to help you understand the amazing processes that God has put in place to make creation function as it does.
Examine a few elements, identify some forces, create some waves, and we’ll discover some reactions!
This honors class goes a step further than the basic Physical Science class with several research projects that allow students to dig deeper into topics that interest them. You will even invent a new superhero!
If there are books and materials for this course, they can be purchased from our Online Bookstore.
I am so grateful for the teacher's lesson plans and weekly teaching units.
Easy to understand.
I absolutely love the lessons in this course. Not only are the scientific topics interesting alone, but the way it is presented in the lessons are so fun! I love all the interesting fun-facts and jokes included in the lessons as well! I think this course was very balanced and very organized. It included a great variety in assignments!
