This course requires students to use a variety of web-based programs for digital design. Links to these options are given in the lessons and assignments. Students do not need to purchase any software for the course.

If you love to create eye-catching designs in Canva or experiment with funky fonts in PowerPoint, then this course may be exactly what you’re looking for! On the other hand, if you struggle to understand why some graphics look really polished while others don’t, then this course can help you, too. Digital Design begins with an overview of graphic design throughout history and in various cultures. You will be introduced to various careers in graphic design and the organizations that can help you prepare for a future career. As you learn about the tools of the graphic designer, you will also become more proficient in using line, space, and color. By the time you finish the course, you will have your very own design portfolio that you can continue to develop in the future. Digital Design will give you a strong foundation in the principles of design, which you can use no matter where your career takes you.
